Blackberries (Coming Summer 2009)
June (dependent upon Mother Nature)
Wegmeyer Farms grows three different varieties of blackberries - Apache, Arapaho and Ouachita. All three varieties are grown on thornless vines making for easy picking. The berries are large and sweet!
Our blackberries are irrigated and grown in a protected area with grassy walkways for easy picking. Berries can be picked in our one-gallon buckets, which are complimentary to PYO Club members.
Blackberry Care Tips
Pick only ripe blackberries. Ripe berries are black all over with no red drupelets. A gentle tug will release the blackberry from the stem.
Handle blackberries gently; they are fragile.
Blackberries will keep in the refrigerator for about two days if they are unwashed and stored in an uncovered container.
To freeze blackberries, put them unwashed in freezer containers and place in freezer.
