Blackberries (Coming Summer 2009)Blackberries
June (dependent upon Mother Nature)

Wegmeyer Farms grows three different varieties of blackberries - Apache, Arapaho and Ouachita. All three varieties are grown on thornless vines making for easy picking. The berries are large and sweet!

Our blackberries are irrigated and grown in a protected area with grassy walkways for easy picking. Berries can be picked in our one-gallon buckets, which are complimentary to PYO Club members.

Blackberry Care Tips

  • Pick only ripe blackberries. Ripe berries are black all over with no red drupelets. A gentle tug will release the blackberry from the stem.
  • Handle blackberries gently; they are fragile.
  • Blackberries will keep in the refrigerator for about two days if they are unwashed and stored in an uncovered container.
  • To freeze blackberries, put them unwashed in freezer containers and place in freezer.
